We opted for a no-fuss Christmas this year - minus the Christmas meal - just an eat what you want, do what you want kind of day and it worked well.
I really like that Christmas can be a no-stress time for the whole family.
After our quiet Christmas Day we decided that we would go to Ollantaytambo and just hang out for a couple of days at the Full Moon Lodge, taking in the cafes and restaurants and walking around town.
The scenery in that part of the world is just gorgeous and we always like to visit someplace new to amuse ourselves.
The bus ride is only short - about an hour and a half - so just long enough to feel like a vacation but not too far so they get terribly bored.
The hostel was lovely - the kids enjoyed having some outdoor space and while we didn't do too much over the days we were there - we enjoyed just spending time relaxing and not having to worry about being anywhere or doing anything.
We were disconnected from the world for 3 days and it was lovely! No tv. No phone. No internet. Just heavenly.
